Glass for domestic balcony infill panel

Glass for domestic balcony infill panel

(OP)
What sort of glass should I use?

The glass panels will sit in a welded galvanised steel framework with a handle rail.

I did consider laminated glass but I have read that unless the edges are sealed the glass can delaminate or become foggy at the edges.

I am currently looking at 8mm toughned but I guess there is the risk of thermal shatter. UK temperatures so -12 deg C is possible but uncommon.  Exposed location so could be some windage too.

The balcony is a 1st floor i.e. not ground.
Panels sizes (mm) are;

Panel 1    2149    898
Panel 2    1797    898
Panel 3    1799    898
Panel 4    1813    898

Panel 1 has 3 support mounts top & bottom, 2 at each side.  All other panels have 2 supports on each edge.

TIA for any suggestions/places to look for info.

JJ
