(OP)
I need to qualify a WPS with a P1Gr1 to a P1Gr2 material ie Pipe(Gr1) to plate (Gr 2) does the AWS D 1.1 allow for such ? If so please direct me to it in the AWS.

RE: PQR groupings

AWS groups materials as AWS Groups 1, 2 and 3 and not P nos. (P Nos are in ASME section IX). AWS groups are typically classified in terms of the yield strengths. Group I is 275 MPa or less, Group II is 355 MPa(~50 ksi) or equivalent and Group III is 450 MPa(60 ksi+) and equivalent if my memory serves me right. DO NOT GET CONFUSED BETWEEN ASME SECTION IX MATERIAL GROUPINGS (P Nos) and AWS groups
