Section views of assemblies

Section views of assemblies

Section views of assemblies

(OP)
I'm trying to create a sectional view of an assembly in MDT6.

I have tried radial views, offset views, aligned views but without any avail. I cannot create a cut line for the assembly.

I currently create the base view from a scene.

Anybody got any ideas?

RE: Section views of assemblies

Try to create a local part with only cutting lines on it. I hope it helps.

RE: Section views of assemblies

This is the way I do it and it seems to work for me:

- Constrain assembly in model space
- Set UCS at location that will define base view
- On layout, select new view and select multiple parts under data set (then select all parts when prompted in model space)
- Select UCS as viewpoint
- Insert base view in layout
- Right click on base view in model tree and select new view
- Select section tab and select full
- Select location of section view relative to base view
- Select either point or workplane for placement of section line (I usually simply select point and grab the point from the base view).

The sectioned view should appear. I hope this is what you were looking for.
