I looked for the standard you mention, but it doesn't seem to exist; I also tried with similar numbers, but the documents I found were all cancelled, superseded or not related to valves. Please double-check the number you wrote and/or give some more information, if you can...

Thanks for your lonking for the standard for me, I got it from my customer the content is "We shall study together how to transform your valves who actually fit class
5th of BS 16-104 to class 6th (perfect sealing with no leacking).probably they need to add a blade sealing on the disc." because I cannot find the standard so I asked here, maybe I need to ask my customer.
By the way do you know what mean" a blade sealing on the disc?" have you ever seen the valve with it?

I've never heard about "blade sealing", but the leakage classes you mention sound like ANSI/FCI 70-2 and IEC 60534-4 (equivalent to BS 5973-4, 1987) to me! So please take a look, in this Forum, to:

Thanks very much for your suggestion of other Forum, it is really very help for me.
I have asked my customer, his reply of the standard is ASTM B 16-104 Class 6 is no leakage for valve.
The blade sealing on the disc is using a pack of blade of steel and graphite on the disc or on the body to guarantee the absolute and perfect sealing. Do you have seen this produce of Double Eccentric Metal Seated and Triple Eccentric Metal Seated Butterfly Valve?

I think that you have to check again, as ASTM B 16 standard (2001) regards non-ferrous alloys and in particular "identifies requirements for free-cutting brass rod, wire, bar and shapes of any defined cross section produced from Copper Alloy UNS No. C36000 appropriate for high-speed screw machining applications and moderate thread rolling".
May be the reference standard the Customer requires is ASME B16.34?
This is almost "the Bible" of Valve Manufacturing, as it "covers new valve construction and pressure-temperature ratings, dimensions, tolerances, materials, non-destructive examination requirements, testing, and marking for forged, cast and fabricated flanged, threaded and welding end, and wafer or flangeless valves of steel, nickel-base alloys and other alloys. Also gives detailed diagrams, tables and annexes".

Thanks very much for your concern with my question and thanks for your suggestion. Because I have not ASTM B standard on hand so I don't know the content of it. but I think whether is it ANSI B16.104?
Yes, ASME B16.34 is really the "Bible" of Valve Manufacturer, most of our product are conform to this standard, it is really very useful.

just for "hystorical" information: reading the Foreword of FCI 70-2-2003 (see Thread408-76110 or Thread174-76111) I found that an old name (before 1970) for this standard was "ASME B16.104".

many thanks for still remembering my question, I am very glad that you have found an older name for the standard was ASME B16.104, I will try to looking for the standard if possible, it is as you mentioned in your question it is not only for water test but also incl. air test for leakage. it will be high appreciate it if you have further information to inform me.
