Airport Self-Service Fuel farm
Airport Self-Service Fuel farm
(OP)
Our project includes the installation of a new Self-Service (credit card) dispensing fuel station (fuel farm), on the aircraft parking apron that we are reconstructing.
I'm looking for information on airport's fuel farms (small-general aviation) design. All I have is AC150/5230-4 but it gives very little detail about the actual design - location, min. distances, # of tanks, tank size, etc.
Also, does anybody know the name of suppliers for those credit card operated fuel dispensing stations?
Thanks for your time.
Rick

They would specify min. clearances and other site parameters. As for size of tanks and number of tanks that would be a commercial decision based on expected sales volume and the need for fuel turnover, delivery and holding costs etc.
Beyond this there would be the normal fuel facility requirements for environmental protection, spill containment, fire protection etc.
Also watch out for jurisdictional issues. Here in Canada any airport is federal jurisdiction. The municipal and provincial governments do not have any right to regulate safety and design issues. A good practice is to use the most stringent of any local, provincial or federal regulation that may apply. That way if jurisdiction transfers then you are OK. (Its just good conservative practice anyway.)
