I'd like to know comments about Straus 7 finite element software program. I think that Straus 7 is commercial name of STRAND software in Europe.
Thank you

RE: STRAUS 7 SOFTWARE

Hi,

I use Strand 7 sporadically, but when I do I find it absolutely brilliant. I have carried out analysis on several brackets and found it to be very ggod. I have compared the values against tested values and found them to be more than accetable.

I have no experience of other FEA programs, but have found this to be very user friendly.

Additionally I use it for 'simple' beam analysis, and find it much better than P Frame as the BM diagrams, deflections etc. are all displayed on the model. The animation facility has been particularly handy. This can be used to show how the model deflects into such weird and wonderfull shapes.

I've written some very brief tutorials on how to use Strand, which show just how easy it is to use. These can be found at http://homepage.ntlworld.com/stephen.napper1/Autocad/Strand/Index.htm

Strand's agent in the UK can be found at www.iuk.co.uk and is very, very helpfull.

RE: STRAUS 7 SOFTWARE

I have been using it for about 15 years now for structural and some mechanical type design. I use it on an almost daily basis, for normal linear elastic, but over the years I have used it fairly regularly for elastic buckling, non-linear material, non-linear geometry and dynamic analyses. I speak very highly of it in all regards. It has very good graphics. And good support. It is top quality, and very importantly, a real pleasure to use. I have had a little experience with some other FEA packages and with some beam element packages and a number of CAD packages and it makes them all look bad.
