Water Fuses

Water Fuses

Water Fuses

(OP)
Does anyone have information on the use of water fuses? Certain inverter manufactures have allowed water fuses to be used during troubleshooting in place of normal fuses. This cuts down on the costs of blown fuses. The fuse wire looks like solder and is wrapped around lugs and immersed in water. Sounds crazy but it works.

RE: Water Fuses

If your inverter supplier has to recommend such practice I would change to another supplier. Every inverter designed, manufactured and tested according to the "state of the art" should provide enough intelligent protection to avoid endless lines of blown fuses.

RE: Water Fuses

As you say, the water fuses ( Ihave used them too) are only used in specific inhouse testing by manufacturer on semiconductor equipment mainly to save costs on proper semiconductor fuses.

Water fuses are not used on commercial applications.Well not that I know of!
