the question to ask about that coating system is not related to putting in on the tank, but rather getting it off the tank when you are done with it...Salesmen are very short sighted, loking only to the point of making the sale, engineers on the other hand have to look 20 to 50 years down the road. Getting that system off will not be fun and if you are a young engineer, you may still be in the business when it comes time to remove it for recoating...

The main reason it is being considered is because of the fast cure and one coat system... we can't have the tank out of service for 4 weeks or more..., but? speed now may not be the wise decision for the future removal... it might take 4 months to take it off 15-20 years from now.

You should really consider the options. If you havn't done a study on the tank, it may ge a good thing to do. Get a good water engineer. The study will take into consideration taking the tank out of service and keeping your gradient stabalized while its our of service. Painting a tank is a critical maintenance project to undertake as the tanks are the most important part of your system. I would focus on giving the contractor as much time as possible to make sure you get the job you demand. Is the tank yours? Is it new? old? What condition is it in?
Maybe we can help you a bit more if we know more.

With epoxy paints, thorough mixing, accurate porpotions, good preparation of surfaces to be coated, priming of bare metal, control of coating thichness, curing temperature, proper storage of paint components are the keys to success.
