Welding Rods

Welding Rods

(OP)
What dose the letters stand for on welding rods ?

RE: Welding Rods

mrjuice:
The term "rods" can be used for many processes such as SMAW, GTAW, PAW, OFW, etc.

An example:
E7018
E = electrode
70 = tensile strength in ksi
1 = all position
8 = polarity (DC+ and AC) and coating type (low-hydrogen/potassium/iron powder)

There are many examples for several processes.

RE: Welding Rods

if it's at the end of the electrod designation it would indicate special or additives to the flux coating or alloy such as e7018x or 308L. it'd be best to check with your eletrode maker or supplier.
