Thermowell installation for maintenance

Thermowell installation for maintenance

Thermowell installation for maintenance

(OP)
My company has critical emergency diesel generators stationed throughout its infrastructure. We are looking for some expertise in modifying or replacing a temperature switch located on these engines that is exposed directly to the cooling system water. This switch sends a signal to the engine controls to shut down the engine in the event of high cooling water temperature. We would like to modify the switch to add a thermowell to allow for ease of removal for calibration and system functional testing. Does anyone have experience in this type of modification/design?

RE: Thermowell installation for maintenance

Check with "OMEGA Egineering" or "Watlow", they may have a standard Fix. Check Omega.com website for possible application solutions they may have posted. Some application examples are shown in their temperature sales catalog.

Goog luck in your serch.

RE: Thermowell installation for maintenance

Looks like an easy fix. you can use a temperature switch (bi-metallic for cheap option, or rtd) from various instrument vendors and wire it into electrical circuit.
