Helical Resonator design.

I have two good references to helical resonator design,
"VHF, UHF manual", 4th edition, by G.R.Jessop, and
"RF Design guide", by Peter Vizmuller. I have built a dual
cavity VHF helical resonator for 144 MHz with 50 ohm taps on input
and output, and the Q is high. However both references fail to:

How do you make the resonator so that the insertion loss is low? The
loss through the filter is about 15dB at best !!
Define how to dimension the partition wall aperture?

Does anyone have "Filters with Helical and folded helical resonators"
by Peter Vizmuller page 61, Artech house, or any other practical
references to building helical resonators with low insertion loss?
