Using Deformed Shapes
Using Deformed Shapes
(OP)
I have a general question on using ANSYS. Is it possible to save a deformed shape and then use that new shape in new subsequent analyses? If it is could someone walk me through the basics of it. Thanks.

RE: Using Deformed Shapes
Yes, if you go to Solution, and then select Restart, you can then continue your analysis. Look in the Ansys help file for Restarts.
Hope this helps,

If I understood correctly what you want to do is posible by using load steps (look for LS command in the Ansys help). What do you need is to create a macro that apply the load that will deform the shape, then clear loads and apply subsequents loads, finally read the final load step result...

As long you know the nodes or keypoints that you want to edit you can make the changes thru the same macro. Other thing that you may consider is to create a element side of the deformed shape and make the changes in the file then run subsequent analysis...
RE: Using Deformed Shapes
You could use UPCOORD command from Solution.
Please refer to your ANSYS documentation to see how to use.
