Penetration analysis

Penetration analysis

Penetration analysis

(OP)
I am often performing extensive penetration-analyses for large steel-constructions. For the moment penetrations of girder-beams.
I am looking for reference-books/hand-books covering the topic (girder penetrations). Both theoretical books and books containing tabulated examples/typical cases are of great intrest.

Thanks in advance.

RE: Penetration analysis

Not sure how applicable it would be with deep grirders and such, but AISC has a design guide for web openings in beams.  Its No. 2 in their Steel Design Guide Series.

RE: Penetration analysis

The leading Australian steel supplier OneSteel (www.onesteel.com), formerly BHP Steel, has done quite a bit of research into web penetrations in bare steel and composite steel beams.

They have a design manual (free download) entitled "Design of Simply-Supported Composite Beams with Large Web Penetrations" and an MS Excel spreadsheet calculation tool "WEBPEN".
