(OP)
as a manufacture  of Ozone generators providing  purification systems for food water and air,  we are looking for an economical alternative to stainless for ozone resistance materials for new ozone process parts under development for a consumer market, besides converting all our existing parts, tools and castings to a more user friendly alternative material.
Other materials  like brass, bronze, copper and aluminum don't hold up as well,  but we are considering plating this new substrate cast materials with nickel to protect the base material if we can workout the details with sound material information, creative alloys and  a quality supplier that thinks outside the box on our behalf .

We are intrigued with lighter materials that are  easier to tool, and  even though we would be adding additional processes like finishing and plating and such, we believe we can cut our cost with increased production and  provide more sales with  more economical pricing to the end user.

Brass, bronze, copper and aluminum are rated " fair to good" with ozone gas, but stainless 304 is rated  "excellent" and 316 is rated "superior" the rating of the ozone resistance increases  as  the quality of the stainless increase. Chrome has an extremely "poor" rating and nickel is rated "excellent". . We assume it is the nickel content in the higher grades of stainless alloys that offer the "excellent" rating against ozone gas. . We suspect the chrome in stainless  must be  protected by the nickel in the mix somehow.  Monel is rated "poor", but Hasteloy and Inconel are rated "excellent" as well as glass just fyi. Impregnating cast aluminum with glass and /or anodizing may offer  superior resistance , but we are still researching electroless plating with the glass impregnation and the adhesion to glass besides anodizing, there are still to many unknowns.

Unfortunately our material compatibility list is limited and doesn't state materiel alloy data, so our present goal with a casting company is to determine what material, at what material alloy grade,  will offer the best protection against ozone.
