Cooper E10 train loading interpretation
Cooper E10 train loading interpretation
(OP)
I have a table of the Cooper E10 train loading (found in any Civil Eng'g handbook) which gives 'simple span beam maximum moments shears and reactions for various spans' per axle. I do not understand the 'Max beam reaction' column of the table, can anyone help?
This column in the table references a footnote that reads 'from two spans', does this mean that the reported reaction value is considering beams framing from two sides of a support member? If so, can anyone confirm that the max moment and shear only considers one span.
Thanks in advance.

RE: Cooper E10 train loading interpretation
Using a similar approach, the equivalent uniform loads for shear & moment will show that these tabulated values are for one span.
Be sure to consider impact loads, multiple tracks, and to multiply the E10 loading by the appropriate factor to get the final loading.
