Availability of Joints for above 450nm torque
Availability of Joints for above 450nm torque
(OP)
I'm interested to know if anyone can help me source joints for a carbon fiber(possibly) prop shaft, more than likely steel to withstand 450nm torque. As I am in Japan a location in asia may be best! Any advice appreciated. Volumes would be reasonably high.

Look if you take a look at the Toyota Landcruiser V8 as an example, the engine was detuned to minimise the torque, and so they could fit 'normal type' couplings and cv's. I have an 'engi' here tellin me that it would be expensive, or rather difficult to source cv's that could withstand 450nm for a steel propshaft. I didn't think that was true given the number of high torque engines in the US(remember I am in Japan). I know the Z car has a high torque engine as well as the GTR and I am aware of the specs of the prop shaft and cv's used in those vehicles. They are somewhat different to this exercise tho'.The use of a steel shaft rather than carbon fiber one has me wondering about the joints necessary(I don't think a joint off any ol 2-cylinder would do the job frankly)to support the shaft. I am of course talking about a performance vehicle for the shaft. Any ideas? Thanks.

What sort of joints are you after?
What is the first gear ratio?
If it is an auto what is the torque ratio of the TC?
As you say, there is no shortage of cars around with 450 Nm engines, there are plenty of suitable components.
