Equivalent material for Sintering

Equivalent material for Sintering

(OP)
Dear Experts,

We have a forging in SAE 1541 material, which is a carbon Steel. Due to the intricacies of the part, higher volume as well as the special machining requirements such as broaching, we are planning to get into the Powder metallurgy route for manufacturing.

We also need to propose to the customer explaining the material properties. For this, we need to know an equivalent specification in the Powder metallurgy nomenclature. The part is stationary in actual use. The hardness given is 33~42HRc.

Can somebody suggest us an equivalent material composition specification?

RE: Equivalent material for Sintering

You can use 4600 series materials for this application.  It probably will suit it.

A supplier by the name of Quebec Metal Powders (QMP) could answer most of your questions.

I know a gentleman by the name of Joel Poirier that could direct you to the pertinent technical person (joel.poirier@qmp-powders.com).  They have a very competent and helpful technical staff there.
