PDMWorks Advanced Server Hardware

My company is looking at getting PDMWorks and Advanced Server. Unfortunately, our drawings are kept on a Snap Server, which is basically just a glorified external harddrive.

Is it possible to run Advanced Server on one of our proper servers and have it reference the PDM Vault on the Snap Server, or does it have to be installed on the same drive as the Vault? If it will work with the Snap Server, are we asking for trouble by doing it this way, instead of getting a proper server to run the entire show?

We have 18 people in our Design Department who will need to access the Vault using PDMWorks and 50 people throughout the company who would have access through the web portal function.

Any other experiences using Advanced Server would be appriciated too, as there is a distinct lack of information available on it

Well, I'm going to answer my own questions since everyone else here is being very quiet on the subject.

I have been informed by our SolidWorks rep that Advanced Server will run on any computer that has Windows 2000 or better. Advanced Server does not have to be on the same drive/machine as the Vault, but it must be able to access the Vault over the network.

NathanN,
I found your threads on another post "More PDMWorks Talk"
It seams as if you are knowledgable with PDMWorks. I am heading up a project to hopfully purchase and implement PDMWorks 2004 into our company. We have had SW for about two years. We recently upgraded to SW 2004. I would like to open a dialog with you on PDMWorks and PDMWorks Advanced Server.
Is it ok to comunicate via e-mail?

Chris
