Pro/manufacture against Delcam

Does anyone out there has done a benchmark between Pro/manufacture and Delcam?

RE: Pro/manufacture against Delcam

I'm thinking of changing from pro/manufacture to Delcam. I'm not satisfied with pro-tool-paths. I've seen more efficient tool-paths in Delcam, and I think it can import directly from proe and generate efficient and smoothed tool-paths.

There is one think that makes my angry, proe sometimes does not respect the original figure. It cuts the figure with the consequent tool break.... .And ptc says I have to simulate every machining.

Where I work there are a lot of companies using Delcam.

RE: Pro/manufacture against Delcam

Yea...i have worked on both the softwares and i can tell yu the highlights of the benchmark....Pro-E happens to be a lot more slower in Toolpath processing, in some cases ... "like car bumper moulds" the Pro-E system hangs.... THe rest machining in Pro-E is almost non existant. Simulation is very much needed ....in Delcam i dont even verify... On the whole Pro-E is good at modelling but in Machining i think Delcam and Tebis and Zosen....they are realy miles ahead technically....

RE: Pro/manufacture against Delcam

Has anybody got a list of advantages/ disadvantages of Delcam or other CAM system when compared to Pro-Man.

RE: Pro/manufacture against Delcam

Also look at Gibbs they have the granite import capability for Pro-E

RE: Pro/manufacture against Delcam

Unless you are a toolmaker on the shopfloor level, you can't appreciate the problems encountered with ProManufacture.  A package such as Delcam is extremely efficient for fast flawless toolpath generation, which is extremely important.  ProE is good at modelling but Delcam is what is needed for manufacture.
