Large deflection-Leaf spring

(OP)
I am new to Ansys and trying to simulate effect on a triangular shaped leaf spring which is fixed on one end and loaded on the other. I have an IGES model of the spring.
What element type I should choose. Is there any sample of this kind of analysis? I am running Ansys 5.5.1. Is it capable of calculating large deflecions?

I appreciate your help.

Bob

RE: Large deflection-Leaf spring

Elements 92 and 95 should do the job.
Unless you use shell element and specify the thickness.
As for Ansys 5.5.1, I am not familiar but I believe should be sufficient for 'realistic' deflections.
I have only used Ansys 6 and 7.
