hi friends,

Think there are a  lot of simulation softwares available .Which is the best ???

RE: which is the best casting simulation software

"NovaFlow and Solid" seems to work well.

RE: which is the best casting simulation software

This is a frequently asked question, whether it pertains to software for design, analysis, manufacturing, etc. and the answer is always "it depends".  I am not a user, so I cannot offer anything definitive.  Flow-3D from Flow Science and Magmasoft from Magma GmbH are the two largest, and probably the most capable.  There was a good review of the various packages in the August 2002 issue of MODERN CASTING.  Unfortunately, it is not available on-line, but the magazine website link is included below:

Carburize,

What kind of castings are you simulating?

We tested Novaflow/cast on 5-15 ton steel castings a few years ago and to us it was utter crap. It had fixed mesh dimensions and we were not even able to mesh large castings.

It might have evolved in recent years (I haven't had the time to look at it at GIFA).

We would like to use Magmasoft, but we can't afford it. For the price of 1 licence we bought 2 fully automated resin bonded sand mixers!

We now use a inexpensive simulation developed by the Belgian Foundry Institute. It's good for small castings in gray and ductile iron. It has serious limitations for larger and steel castings, but we know them and take them into account.

Thanks all for the responses.

I thought Procast had a better approach to casting simualtion than that of Magma - is it true. Any users of either Magma or Procast I think can put us in a better position.
