Internal Error: Cannot initialize ASI

Internal Error: Cannot initialize ASI

I run a w2k box, have Autodesk map 5.0 running on it for a year, last week while trying to open a drawing file emailed to me, I got the above error.  I have tried all the fixes posted on the autodesk support site, the Mdac fix does not work, the regserv32 fix, ran but does not resolve the issue, and the uninstall Autodesk, Microsoft Office xp Pro, then reinstall all, did not resolve the issue.  Any suggestions short of reformating the machine?

If any of you run into this, I finally got Map 5 to run again by reloading the os (win2k) back onto itself.  It did mess up a couple other applications which I had to uninstall and reinstall.
