Solid Directly from Splines?

Solid Directly from Splines?

Solid Directly from Splines?

(OP)
I am using the "Through Curves" tool to create a surface between 10 spline (airfoil) sections that define a propeller blade.  The end result is a surface.  I WANT a solid.

I have found that if I put an elipse at each end, and then use the elipses as the start and end section, with the spline in the middle, I get a solid.

Am I getting a surface from the splines because they are in fact splines?  Is there a way to loft between splines and get a solid directly, without having to stitch (sew) the surfaces together?

RE: Solid Directly from Splines?

Are all the splines in each section planar? If not, it could lead to the problem you describe.

Here's another idea: can you extrude some simple shape (rectangle for example) then trim it with your resulting swept sheet?

cowski,
That is what I ended up doing.  Tech support suggested that I sweep the surface in two halves, then stitch (sew) the halves together.  I found that intersecting a solid rectangle with the skinned surfaces worked pretty well.

Thanks for the info.
