Circular Instance Array of a Sewn Solid?

Circular Instance Array of a Sewn Solid?

Circular Instance Array of a Sewn Solid?

(OP)
I have created a solid from multiple surfaces by sewing together the surfaces.  I now need to create an instance array of the solid, however UG NX does not allow me to pick the sewn solid for the array.  I can pick the surfaces, but not the solid.  Is it not possible to create an array from a sewn solid?

Is there a way to remove the "Sew" feature tag from the solid I created?

Any suggestions?

RE: Circular Instance Array of a Sewn Solid?

You might try to extract the body then array the extraction. I have no idea if this will work or not, but if it does, then the sew feature probably IS the problem. Hope this helps, or at least sparks some other ideas.

RE: Circular Instance Array of a Sewn Solid?

You might try to group together all of the features used to create your solid (using "group features" in the format pull down menu), then try to array the group.  This has helped me with similar situations.

RE: Circular Instance Array of a Sewn Solid?

I would go with the exract body version due to that I´ve experienced problems with grouping features for an array. The problem I´ve experianced a couple of times is that I can´t access the features in the group or unset the features, the feature basicly locks up

hi Wittenborn

If you dont need it as a parametric then use transform and array the sewed solid ,

Karthikj,
Thanks for the tip.  This would mean that every time I change the geometry of the original, I will have to delete the arrayed instances, and then re-transform them again.  Correct?

Another solution for you is that that elements for array were created in an other part. Then you add it back and use assembly array and after that wave them in. So everytime you alter the geometry you do it in the single part and the master part updates.

Wittenborn ,

Yes, you are correct.when you change the original geometry, delete the array instances and transform it again.

RE: Circular Instance Array of a Sewn Solid?

I believe that the suggestion of grouping the features is the way to go in this case. However there is a toggle button that you can check either on or off that will hide all of the features of the group in the model navigator. If it is checked you will not see the features or be able to edit them unless you edit the group first and uncheck the button. Then you can edit the features of the group.
