how to plot stresses ?

how to plot stresses ?

how to plot stresses ?

(OP)
Hello,
I am studying a structure of beams and I don't manage to plot its different levels of stresses. I can get the values of the stresses in each beam going in : General Post - List Results - Section solution - Stress - Principals, but if I try to plot them going in : General Post - Plot Results - Contour Plot - Nodal Solution (or Element Solution), the whole structure is displayed in the same color and it does not help me to know where the maximal stress is ! I would need a "Section solution" command in "Contour Plot" but it doesn't exist. What should I do ?
Thanks for your help

RE: how to plot stresses ?

Hello, MB03!

Indeed if you try to plot stresses will get red structures.
But in order to obtain stress maps you need to do that:
From Utility Menu
           >PlotCtrls>Style>Size and Shape

turn /ESHAPE on and get an appropriate value for scaling the real constants (in order to have a good view). The structure will be 3-D now and any plot of stresses will be comprehensive.

Batch command:

/eshape, scale

where scale could be 0 - display of line
                     1 - display of a 3-D structure of
                         beams based on real constant
                         description
N - the scale that I mentioned above

I hope this will help you!

Best regards,

Juzz
