Sequence circuit?

Sequence circuit?

Sequence circuit?

(OP)
Hi all,

I am interested in making a circuit that will, in essence, be like a stepper motor circuit. The difference is there are three coils vs say a standard bipolar stepper with four or two coils. I think this rules out off-the-shelf solutions.

Here are the requirements:

There are 6 electromagnetic coils in a circular arrangement. The coils are wired in opposing pairs and need to be cycled to create a rotating magnetic field.

The coils are 3 Ohms each so 1.5Ohms in parallel. The inpedence is 100mH and the clock frequency will be varied from 10 to 500hz.

Power supply is 12VDC so ~8amps required; I think. I need to stay low voltage to keep the current in the range that will generate a strong enough magnetic field.

The part I need help with is how to build a robust sequence circuit that will cycle the three coils.

I think high current mosfets will handle the load and cycle times but again I am unsure how to make the circuit that would reside between the function generator and the mosfets.

Thanks Ray

RE: Sequence circuit?

Hi, there are plenty of off the shelf solutions, search for 3 phase motor control chips.
