getting large displacement

getting large displacement

getting large displacement

(OP)
Hi,

I am doing axisymmetric analysis of orthotropic pressure vessel. It is the vessel with cylinder and elliptical heads.  for this purpose, i am using large displacement static analysis with 10 load steps. The problem is that i am getting very large displacement values, but on the other hand the stress values are correct. What i found out that  axial displacement at the crown of the elliptical head is very large. Can somebody help me in resolving this problem.

RE: getting large displacement

The problem is with the element type u have chosen.if it is hyper64 or so u will have large displacement for the load step of 10.So change ur element type so that ur stress will be same and u will get the appropriate displacement.Check ur modulus value also.It place a great role in displacement
