SW 2d file size
SW 2d file size
(OP)
Has anyone noticed an increase file size while using SW2003. I have a valve manifold with 6 standard views, 2 iso views and 3 valve mounting details. Nothing too complicated and the file size is 10 Meg and I'm not done dimensioning it yet. It was 14 Meg and I'm trying to redo it to see if it was a fluke. So far it doesn't seem to be. Any help would be great.

RE: SW 2d file size
Is this with or without an Ecosqueeze or Unfrag? And are you saving that wonderful eDrawings Data with the file?

Also 3d parts are sometimes to big in my opinion. It is possible that is file has a lot of junk features. I had a part of 1.4Mb which was not complicated at all. The trick is to save it with a temporally other name and then overwrite the old file. The file size increased to 288Kb. Unfrag made this file 580Kb.

But here are a few ways to help with that.
1) use an Unfrag utility. SW doesn't support this utility so it is a use at your own risk. http://www.nhcad.com/old/html/download.html
2) If your trying to email a file to someone.
a) You can Extrude a feature that encompasses the entire part.
b) You can suppress everything in the FM.
3) When you save the file move it off the screen so only your background is visible. This will help to make a smaller shade file.
4) You can do a save as and it will bring the file down but the next time you save it, it will grow back to the size it was before.
Check out Feature statistics. It won't tell you which features are using the most MB's but it will tell you which features take longer to open and that should indicate to you which features may need some simplifying.
I hope this helps...Best Regards,
