i need a reference for the required bolt forces/torques in design case and hydrotest conditions of heat exchangers.any one can help?

RE: required bolt torques and moments

Dear Rahyani,
The required bolt torques/bolt load comes with body flange calculation (refer to ASME VIII,App. 2). This depends of design pressure of tube and shell side, bolt diameter, no bolt gasket seating etc.
The hydrostatic condition also as per ASME VIII.

RE: required bolt torques and moments

Dear Rocco,
Thanks for your reply I would like to clarify my question:
you are right the bolt design(no.,size,...) depends on operating and hydrotest conditions and according to ASME Sec.VIII app.2 we can calculate and size the no. of required and size of the bolts .we also find out the stresses due to different load cases on bolts but my exact qustion is the way to find the rquired bolt torques for fastening the bolts with considerations of flange deformation (as per app.S)and satisfacrory leak prevention during hydrotest and operating.
do we have any formula for estimation of this torques/moments?
