i have to build a fairly small panel (its a tight squeeze) and will consist of a 4 amp d.c. drive and a 90-30 ge fanuc plc how close can these go together, has anyone had any problems in the past
thanks

RE: plc, motor drive

The drive manufacturer probably gives top, bottom, and side minimum clearances for the drive for purposes of air flow and cooling.

yeh! your right but i was thinking about magnetic interference spacing

RE: plc, motor drive

As long as you keep the drive manufacturer clearances you should have no problems.

thanks guys

RE: plc, motor drive

Installing a simple metallic separator plate between the drive and PLC would eliminate your concerns regarding EMF. However if the panel is small have you run a thermal rise calculation to check the enclosure will sufficiently dissipate the heat generated by the the components inside, without overheating.
