Help with bolting calculations

Help with bolting calculations

(OP)
Hi all,

I've been performing some bolting calcs with regard to holding a cover on a water valve. What we are doing is using Stainless A2 70 (ISO spec) bolts to go into a bronze casting. I've made up a spread sheet that creats a table of results according to different pressure values.

I'm not too sure if I've gone about things the right way and would be keen for an expert to have a look and let me know if there is a better way of doing things.

I'd be here for quite a while if I tried to explain all the formulae in words. So I'm more than willing to email the spreadsheet to anyone that may be interested. The spreadsheet is all in metric, which may make it confusing for some.

Cheers

Hayden

RE: Help with bolting calculations

I am familiar with bolted joint calculations such as those in VDI 2230.  You can send the spreadsheet to me at cpadfield at omnimetalslab dot com.
