LNB'S

LNB'S

(OP)
IS A LNB'S USEFUL LIFE GOING WHEN SPARKIES APPEAR ON THE TRANSPONDERS ON LOWER POSITION SATELITES, THAN HIGHER ONES?  ALSO, RAIN BLANKS OUT MY SIGNALS ON THE LOWER ONES SUCH A G5 THROUGH F7, BUT SIGNALS ARE GREAT ON THE UPPER SATELITES, SUCH AS GO THROUGH W6?

RE: LNB'S

You have either an alignment(tracking)problem or an obstruction blocking Your line of sight on that side of the arc. If You are to far east geograpicly this can amplify the problem. If it is a gegraphic problem then a weakening lnb can cause this to some degree as well. The rain is blocking signal so Your lack of signal on that side would definately have sparkles first.

RE: LNB'S

(OP)
I have had this site, for some fifteen or more years, and
I am using a 20 Deg. LNB for a 10 foot fiberglass dish, feeding a 4DTV receiver.  The LNB is some five years old.  I have peaked the dish with the signal indicator on, and in the past I have been able to get a good picture.  My logic was that if the transponders were all the same as frequency, then changing satelites should not make a difference.  Is this logic sound?

RE: LNB'S

The logic is correct, the frequency's are the same. That means that changeing sats has no effect on the LNB. Other than polarity change at the feedhorn. This means that if the LNB were bad it would be bad on the same transponders on all sats.
