Reducing 15.0KSCG to 5.0KSCG
Reducing 15.0KSCG to 5.0KSCG
(OP)
Dear friends,
I have a urea solution pump(135 deg c) that develops 15Kscg pressure and 15M3 flow. I want to use this pump for 5.0Kscg pressure and 15M3 flow(135 deg c). How I can control the pressure(In the new application 15 kscg pressure is not acceptable).Restriction orifice will help.
Thanks in advance.

Pump is of horizontal centrifugal pump

Can you put a smaller impeller in the pump? I'd also take a look at the BEP versus your 15 m3/hr (I'm assuming the time units are per hour) to ensure that you aren't operating too far away from it.
If you use a control valve, you'll need to consider if the valve goes fully open and puts the full 15 kg/cm2 on your downstream process, does that introduce any overpressure issues?

Thanks.
There is no overpressure issue.
YOU are correct. Flow unit is M3/Hr.
Urea solution is to be lifted to 52 feet elevation, there I want to maintain 1.5-2.0Kscg Pressure only.
No availability of smaller size impeller.
Your views will be very much appreciated

Any centrifugal pump in general changes its capacity with head. you send me the chareterastics curves. But i think it will be economical to change the pump with required capacity and head. it will pay back in less than ayear

Sorry sir.
I do not have pump curve right now.
We are trying to use a pump from a closed down plant of somebody else.
I have written to them in this regard.
Thanks
