Welding 13-8 forging

Welding 13-8 forging

(OP)
One of the people in out shop needs to do some welding of a 13-8 stainless forging in a non-critical area.  Is this possible?  If it is, what filler would you recommend?  This is for filling a hole used in locating for fixturing, again, it is a non-critical area, it will get cut off in a later operation.  Thanks for any help.

RE: Welding 13-8 forging

If it is getting cut off later, I imagine that anything that wouldn't crack would do.  The first electrode I would look at is 309.

RE: Welding 13-8 forging

308 or 309 are acceptable electrodes.
