What is lensring joint

Dear All,

We have problem about the flange connection of control valve, what the different of integral flange with lensring join. We will be appreciate if we can get the assistance and the drawing of lensring join. In what application (the plant) the lensring join ussually used in industry.

Best regards,
Anung

RE: What is lensring joint

Lens ring gaskets are normally pressure assisted (the higher the pressure the better the seal)and the same ID or close to the pipe ID. Ring gaskets, even if pressure assisted such as an RX or GX, tend to lose efficiency as the pressure increases and the flanges are forced apart. One of the best known lens ring gaskets is the Grayloc http://www.grayloc.com/ although there are plenty of other designs available.

Dear All,

Is there a significant matter if the end user requirement is lens ring joint but we still insist use the integral flange.

Anung

RE: What is lensring joint

You're talking apples and oranges, you can have a lens ring gasket with an integral flange. But in general if the end user has a requirement for one thing and you're supplying something else then I would say you have a significant problem.
