Fundamentals of D.C.Machine

Fundamentals of D.C.Machine

Fundamentals of D.C.Machine

(OP)
Fundamentals of D.C.Machine :-

D.C.machine is maily divided in to two parts one is D.C.motor and another is D.C.generator. First we see about D.C. generator.
D.C.Generator :-
    D.C.generator contains five main parts and they are described below ;
(1) Frame :- Frame serve two functions in D.C.generateor one is to give mechanical support to the machine and another is to give low reluctance path to magnetic flux to complete the path.
In small machine where chipness is rather importane than weight, it is made from cast iron and in big machines it is made from cast steed or rolled steel. It is not normally made from one piece of steel it is made from small laminated sheets to avoid hysteresis loss and eddy current loss.
(2) Pole :-   Pole consist two main parts one is Pole    core    and anothe is pole shoe. Pole core is made from cast iron and it gave support to wound pole winding on the pole. It produces the flux.  Pole shoe is used to give mechanical support to the field winding. And it spread the produced flux to the armeture giving low reluctance because cross section are of pole shoe more. And there is also field winding which carry the D.C. current and it magnetize the pole and help to produce the flux.

(3) Armeture :-  Armeture house the conductors. And it also gave low reluctance path to the flux to flow from N pole to S pole in the D.C.generator.

RE: Fundamentals of D.C.Machine

It sounds like you intended this to be a FAQ.  Perhaps you should try to post it there.
