Flywheel/Torsional Damper
Flywheel/Torsional Damper
(OP)
In most engines, both flywheel and torsional dampers are used to control crankshaft vibration. In which engine or specific case are they not used or only one of them is required? Pls reply or mail me at vediaj@yahoo.com

RE: Flywheel/Torsional Damper
Either way they are there for different reasons. The crankshaft damper is there to suppress crankshaft bending and torsional modes, which will break most crankshafts. The flywheel damper is there to prevent torsionals travelling down the drievtrain, to improve NVH. The clutch centre springs also reduce take-up shock, I imagine.
