Can anyone clear up the definition (conceptually) of kinematic vs. dynamic viscosity? Also, I am in need of a reputable reference for conversion of seconds on the zahn viscometer (#'s 2&3) to a standard unit, such as cSt or cp... I have come across a few conversion equations and tables, but the conversion values appear to be all over the place. For example, for 18 seconds on zahn #2, I have references that give me a value as high as 20 cp, and another give me as low as 7.5 cp. One reference gives a value as high as 30 cSt and another as low as 14 cSt... Any help is appreciated.

1 cP is absolute (=dynamic) viscosity =0.001 Pa.s=0.001 kg/(m.s)
1 cS is kinematic viscosity=10-6m2/s=1 mm2/s = cP/density
