information about welding strength calculation needed asap
(OP)
i need information of how to calculate forces/tourqes when using welding to attach Aluminium to Aluminium.
how does one decide how much to weld (2mm , 3mm ....), should we weld on all sides of the profile or maybe it is enough to weld just some of them etc...
the information is needed asap and would be more than appritiated.
also, if you know a good website i'd be thankful.
thanx!!!

I hope it's helpful.

this is site is very informative. however, it contains practical information and not theoretical.
what I am looking for is the scientific theory to help me calculate if a structure will stand the forces/tourqes applied on him or not.

The strength of welds are usually based on shearing stress as being the weakest failure mode but there are many other factors ie your amount of weld you can deposit is dependant
on the smallest thickness at the welded joint.
Given the lack of detail about your joint and the various kinds of loading you may have the best I can suggest is the
book which I have a very old copy of:-
The Procedure Handbook Of Arc Welding
Lincoln Electric Company Cleveland Ohio
This book as excellent references to formula's for weld strengths and sizes.

I think what you are looking for can be quickly found on Google.com searching with something like "strength of weld joints." This turns up a lot of hits; look at this one for example: http://physics.uwstout.edu/strength/torsrvt/rivw73.htm
There is a lot more that can be found with more searching.
Hope this helps,
Phil
