Editing problem

Editing problem

Editing problem

(OP)
I was working in my drawing (.slddrw) and all of a sudden I can't change or delete anything.  There are a couple of notes that I need to delete.  What have I done wrong.

RE: Editing problem

1. Did you accidentally go into editting the format instead of the drawing?  Don't laugh and/or feel embarassed - I've seen it happen several times.

2. Did you insert entities on the general drawing frame instead of into (associated to) a view, or the other way round?

3. Exit, DON'T FILE, Exit SW, reboot and try again.

Those are the 3 most obvious things that come to mind. Well, except for the obvious thing to do - call your VAR and make use of the support YOU ARE PAYING FOR every year.

Good luck.

1. I don't think so.  But when I'm in the body of the drawing and not touching any other view the format icon is visable.

2. I inserted a partial section view.

3. What to you mean by "DON'T FILE".

RE: Editing problem

Sounds like you have added the notes and or geometry while you had a view activated. You need to RMB or double click (depending on your Setup) each view to find the one that was activated when you made or added the notes, etc...

Being able to use views in this manner is benefical, but you just have to watch yourself when adding notes to your drawings.

RE: Editing problem

Sorry about the confusion. What I should have said is "If all else fails - Exist, DON'T FILe, .....etc.  Standard way out (of ANY software)if you think something have gone ballistic in your file/software/PC.  Ya don't want to save a potentially corrupt file.

Heard some rumor of a bug with partial sections on one SP where the boundaries don't work right - anyone out there confirm this?

When I put the cursor over the note it highlights but I can't do anything with it.  Also when it is highlighted the view shadow box shows up too.

RE: Editing problem

Yer yankin' my cord ,ain't cha?

File - Close - NO.

RE: Editing problem

I'm in the habit of doing a lot of double clicking for ACAD and I guess it gets me in trouble here.  I just exited and came back in and was careful when doing my changes to NOT double click so much and it worked fine

Would you mind if I yanked on that cord a few times

You are just jealous because the voices only talk to me.

RE: Editing problem

Once in a while, I have trouble with entities that belong to a view (or sheet) that isn't closest to those entities.  For instance, a line could be inside one view but actually belong to another.

Using the drawing manager tree, select views one at a time, RMB and lock view focus, and try selecting the offending entitities.  Don't forget "lock sheet focus", as well (actually, try the sheet first).

All this machinery making modern music can still be open hearted.
