I have a floppy disc with A font that I would like to use.
The font is Archquick, shx & archstyl.shx. I have been trying to install this font into AutoCad 2000 for the last few weeks without any sucess.
Can anyone take the time to detail each step in the process of installing these fonts into AutoCad 2000? I am new in using AutoCad so the explantion will have to be basic.
Thanks.
Bill Rolland

RE: fonts

Hi there. To install the fonts you want to go to Start | Settings | Control Panel | Fonts.

Once you get into the font window you want to go to File | Install New Font. Select the A drive and then select the fonts when they appear in the window. Say okay and they will install for you. Once you get to AutoCAD go to Style and you should be able to select them from the list.

If this doesn't work please let me know.

Hi crystalrae,
Thanks for trying to help me. I did as you instructed and everything came up. When i got to the install new font window under lists of fonts it displayed "no fonts found". I checked the disc and it lists 2 fonts. Do you have any ideas? I went to the control panel fron desktop and autocad was not up.
Thanks

RE: fonts

Autocad uses primarily 2 types of fonts, .SHX and .TTF files. .SHX files are fairly easy to install. Just copy the new .SHX file into the c:\Program Files\ACAD2000\FONTS folder and the new font will be available the next time you load Autocad and use the Style command.
.TTF files have to be installed in the c:\Windows\Fonts folder. Some good references on the net are:

RE: fonts

I would like for others who view my dwgs to see the same font that i see when i created the dwg. Since it is a custom font, chances are the other user will not see the fonts unless they are in their system. can fon'ts be embedded in a dwg file? Are there any other solutions for this?

thank you!
