CO2 Nozzle Spacing

CO2 Nozzle Spacing

CO2 Nozzle Spacing

(OP)
Hello.
I need some help on Carbon Dioxide system. I am wondering how the area coverage for nozzles should be considered in designing 1)Total Flooding and 2)Local Application in comparison with maximum sprinkler head spacings in water-baed system(NFPA 13). Any input would be greatly appreciated...

RE: CO2 Nozzle Spacing

Hi Sjung, for local application, the distribution varies with the application you are dealing with, but for total flooding ther are common rules of thumb, i'll try to brief them here below,

For total flooding applications distribute the discharge nozzles based upon the following two constraints:

i- Maximum Spacing = 20 ft (6 m)
ii- Flow Rate, based on Table below:

Nozzle Size (in.)    Flow Rate per Nozzle (lb/min)
      ½                               Up to 120
      ¾                               121 – 250

But please keep in mind that these values are for guidance only, and should be confirmed by proper hydraulic calculations.
Regards.
