Plastic bearing with reflective coating grooves possible??

Plastic bearing with reflective coating grooves possible??

(OP)
Hi, i'm doing a project on water lubricated journal bearing. Now having problem measuring the gap (distance between the shaft and bearing). I'm currently looking at using  eddy current displacenment sensor mounted in the rotating shaft but it need a reflective (metal) coating in order to operate. So is there a way to coat a thin layer of metal strip(in micron) where the sensor is going to roatate??? Thanks for your guildance.

Best Regards,
Yutaini
