RE: HELICOIL (pull-out strength)

First off, What material are you using, is it SST! Also helicoil is MFG. name and others exist..KEEN SERT for one...............Basically the O.D. Thread on any insert is always larger that the I.D. thread it is replacing..So it will allways be stronger...........You should fing out what you need by reading the product manual.....Helicoils came out back in the 1950's and have less applications than they used to because of the increase in engineering requirments through the years have created additional alternitives to sellect from pending your application requirements............Respectfully: <airplaneandy@yahoo.com>

RE: HELICOIL (pull-out strength)

Helicoil has a series of technical bulletins addressing different aspects of insert design.  Technical Bulleting 68-2 provides tables for insert assembly strength based on the known parameters of the design (insert diameter, parent material).  May be able to order from the web or call (203) 924-4722 for a copy of the bulletin.

For best results, please contact the Heli-Coil mfgs themselves.  Heli-Coil is a part of Emhart Teknologies (owned and operated by Black & Decker, Inc), makers of POP, Dodge, P-K, and other systems and fasteners.  I have worked with this group in the past and they are very helpful.  The website is www.emhart.com
