Adjustable Pulsed Current Power Supply

Adjustable Pulsed Current Power Supply

Adjustable Pulsed Current Power Supply

(OP)
Does anyone have suggestions on where I can obtain a current source, or recommendations of companies supplying them?  Looking for something basic that can have the pos and neg posts tied to the load device and low price for example:

Apply 3a to a bus with a pusle of 1 msec "ON" 9 msec "OFF" back to 1 msec "ON" etc... continuously pulsed.

The current and "ON" / "OFF" times need to be adjustable.

Thanks to all repliers!

RE: Adjustable Pulsed Current Power Supply

What's your load on the bus?

The load is in milli Ohms -- say the bus itself, I want to pulse current into it and monitor the temperature rise of the bus to plot current carrying capacity.

RE: Adjustable Pulsed Current Power Supply

That's aquite unusual application. Since I assume that the bus will be connnected in a power circuit. So you need proper insulation in your current source and your measuring equipment.

I'm afraid you have to design that device yourself but maybe you will find suitable equipment if you visit the websites of companies providing test equipment for transformers and machines.

RE: Adjustable Pulsed Current Power Supply

Suggestion: Welding transformers are current sources, essentially.
