Intralink and multiple users

(OP)
Hi,

Can you tell me how to use Intralink so that multiple users can work on the same project at the same time.  Is there Intralink settings or Preferences that has to be set in order to do this?  Is there a method or procedure that has to be followed?

Thanks for any help that you offer.

RE: Intralink and multiple users

Since Intralink holds all of the files, you check out the files of the project that you are working on while others check out their own portions of the project. Intralink will only let one person modify a file at a time. When you check out a file to your workspace, you mark it in the commonspace as intent to modify. This will prevent anyone else from changing the file while you have it.

As with any CAD system, he who files last wins, but Intralink minimizes that by restrict the modify rights to one person at a time. It can be overwritten by an admin.

You should have a procedure defined for using Intralink.

RE: Intralink and multiple users

If you mark "Intent to modify" the others are just aware of your intentions, but anybody can change the files and check them into the Commonspace before you. To be sure no one will be able to change your files, mark as "Lock"
