Carbon Fiber Material Compatibility

Carbon Fiber Material Compatibility

Carbon Fiber Material Compatibility

(OP)
I am concerned for the compatibility of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymerics in use in Concrete Structures. Is there a problem with galvanic corrosion due to the dissimilarity of Carbon fibers in close proximity to steel rebar or strand materials? Any responses are appreciated.

RE: Carbon Fiber Material Compatibility

I have retrofitted several bridges with carbon fiber, columns and beams, and do not understand the question. In all of the cases that I have experienced, or researched, the reinforcement is placed of the outer surface of the member. Areas the are deteriorated are restored prior to retrofitting.
