Honeycomb Core
Honeycomb Core
(OP)
I've been in this trade for 20+ years using Composites, and have used Nomex and Aluminium Honeycombs during this time.
Where I am working now, the "ExPerts"(Small Company) are trying to get me to trim Honeycomb to a .030" Tolerance?
This is for apertures and EOP?
Am I going mad?
Or are the "ExPerts?"
My previous experience (Large Company) was that about 1/2 a cell was good enough!
If anyone has any Ideas on this?
Please Advise
Or back me up as the "Experts" No Listen!

RE: Honeycomb Core
Free standing honeycomb can be pulled or pushed, with very little force to change it length/width. If the honeycomb is bonded down onto temporary backing paper then yes, you should be able to trim to .03 inch, but as soon as it removed from the backing paper it is going to move a bit.
You could try using the phrase "after cutting, adjust the honeycomb to fit dimensions"
