Im looking for an european or uk standard for testing the flatness of a steel coil 0.5mm thick, we use steel coil and are concerned with undulation and bowing in the coil. any help would be appreciated.

RE: Steel coil

There are several British and European standards that cover shape and dimension requirements of steel strip, however the exact ones will depend upon the product you are using, i.e. cold rolled, hot rolled, coated etc....

The I unit is the basic measurement of flatness - this uses the height and pitch of the wave to calculate a value. You should specify your I unit requirements when ordering your steel coil feedstock.

thanks for info, basically we make roofing panels, two layers of steel sandwiched inbetween is a  foam. the panels come galvanised and coated in a plastisol coating.
