How do you generate a "dimple" in sheet metal?  I thought I'd use draft and use the related diameters and link it to the thickness, but it makes the raised portion ok but the thickness isn't right.  just looks like extruded feature.

sorry guys found feature pallette thanks to "TheTick" and remembered all sorts of things that I can do in sheet metal.
Thanks anyway

RE: Sheet Metal Dimple

dj4244,

I do not do much with sheet metal, mostly simple parts.  However, I believe one way to make a dimple is with a forming tool.  Look under SolidWorks help for more info.  Sorry I could not be much help.

Hey, what happened to my original post?

There's no double-lock defense; there's no chain on my door.
And I'm available for consultation,
but remember your way in is also my way out

RE: Sheet Metal Dimple

Black Hole maybe???

RE: Sheet Metal Dimple

"Black Dimple", perhaps?

Your original post was part of another thread, sorry still not used to forum format and thought this subject should be it's own thread,
 Thanks

How do I modify the dimple to my requirements?

RE: Sheet Metal Dimple

RMB the dimple in the Feature Palette and Edit Defintion.

You might want to make a copy of the file and paste in the a new or same folder. Then Edit the Defintion of the Feature. You can find the feature Palette under the C:\Program Files\Solidworks\Directory\Data
